NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates includes text commentary of Sunday's games on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six of the football calendar , after recent discussion about two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both lost their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests was the number of infractions each conceded. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they kind of beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter versus Denver, who play in London this weekend.
However it was good to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have that deficit and then lead three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.
Denver have the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers but they might position two LBs in the interior then withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.
Early on of the season, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They finished last season well and excelled of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while new running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows how the Broncos represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable situations.
This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw anywhere, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.
His assets include his mobility, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to deliver that layered pass across the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays great composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He has a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.
If you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the defence to stay on the field for longer, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the area downfield side to side. This proves draining.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach during games at times and it seems Payton appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB who's similar to moldable clay. The coach can really build something up the way he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.
The head coach owns a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing offensively is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids shape him what he is.
There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. The key is to continue this trajectory.
They excel at leaning into their strength, which is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.
It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
