Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
