New Information Emerge About the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
New information has come to light about the untimely passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence property on Sunday.
The Discovery
As detailed in an account referencing a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently in custody without bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
The source also disputed published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Details
As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
