The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad after the uproar from his televised remarks.

He was omitted from a vital match subsequent to making accusations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”

The manager has chosen not to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.

Jones insisted that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.

The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”

The team's performance have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to destabilise the squad.
