Football Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, however can the English top division leaders recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' sole away victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four matches.

A family member advised me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have got plenty of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's home form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
