Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
