Both Deceased Students Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Continue Search for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the weekend's tragic incident in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant persisted following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow online, stating: “It's indescribable. Remembering her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were hurt in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate new worry for our public”.

The assailant began shooting inside a room in the building on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a authority reported to the media outlet.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel recovered two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was taken into custody, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was allowed to go home, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and fellow students and lament the passing of his promising future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US college with about 7,300 undergraduate and postgraduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in the current year, according to statistics.
